In the world of action figures, G.I. Joe has always been a prominent name. Today, we're diving into the Hasbro G.I. Joe Flint and Lady Jaye action figures. These two characters have long been favorites among fans of the franchise, and Hasbro has brought them to life in plastic form. We'll be evaluating these figures in four key categories: Accessories, Appearance, Articulation, and Affordability, assigning each a score out of 10. Finally, we'll deliver an overall verdict.
Accessories (8/10):
Both Flint and Lady Jaye come packed with an impressive arsenal of accessories. Flint includes a detailed shotgun, a sidearm, a removable beret, and a backpack holster for the shotgun. Lady Jaye is equally well-equipped, boasting her two trademark javelins with interchangeable tips, the javelin launcher, a dagger, a backpack with commo gear, and two removable hair pieces, one with a baseball cap, one without. These accessories add depth to the figures and enhance playability. I started to panic when taking photos because I thought I had lost one of her javelins, only to FINALLY remember that I'd put it into one of my accessory boxes.
Appearance (9/10):
Hasbro has done an outstanding job with the appearance of these figures. Flint and Lady Jaye are meticulously detailed, from their facial expressions to their uniform textures. The paintwork is sharp and clean, with vibrant colors that stay true to their cartoon counterparts. The sculpting is top-notch, capturing the essence of these iconic characters. I have to admit that I'm not a huge fan of the hairpiece for Lady Jaye without the ball cap though. I get that it's designed to replicate her appearance in the comics, but it just doesn't seem to do her justice, plus, the sculpt around the ears is a bit off, so that one of her side curls actually hangs down into her ear, rather than framing it. I actually think she looks better with the ball cap accessory and have decided I'll be displaying her that way. That's really my only complaint. I am impressed, once again, with the quality that Hasbro has put into these figures, in terms of paint, sculpt, and appearance accuracy.
Articulation (7/10):
Both figures offer excellent articulation, allowing for a wide range of dynamic poses. They have multiple points of articulation in the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles. The joints are sturdy but not overly tight, making it easy to find the perfect pose. However, there is a slight limitation in the torso articulation for Flint due to his tactical vest. While his waist turns easily enough, there is no crunch because of the sturdy design of the vest. Lady Jaye has a bit more mobility in her torso and her floating belt doesn't inhibit waist movement at all. The biggest issue I've had with both of these figures is a very gummy feeling to the hip joints. They are on drop down features but moving them feels awkward and I'm afraid that I'm bending the internal joint, rather than it moving freely. I am going to have to purchase some silicone oil to help with this issue. Otherwise, head/neck, arms, elbows, wrists, knees, and ankles all move with ease and offer great range of motion.
Affordability (7/10):
G.I. Joe seems to be the one toyline that Hasbro is doing their best to keep reasonably priced. Both of these were anniversary gifts from the wonderful Mrs. ToyBox so though they didn't cost me anything. However. if you wish to add them to your Joe collection, you can find Lady Jaye for the retail price of $24.99 each OR you can get the "wave" of 2 for $49.99 over at BBTS.
Overall, Flint and Lady Jaye make an impressive pair in the G.I. Joe action figure lineup. Their accessories, appearance, and articulation are commendable, earning them high marks. However, the price tag might be a deterrent for some. Still, for fans of the franchise, these figures are a must-have. Our final verdict is a solid:
8 out of 10 ToyBoxes
Hasbro's G.I. Joe Flint and Lady Jaye action figures are a fantastic addition to any collection. Whether you're a long-time G.I. Joe enthusiast or a newcomer, these figures offer a great blend of nostalgia and quality. Don't hesitate to add them to your toy arsenal. Until next time... GEEK OUT!!!
