It's the most wonderful time of the year... and once again that means Dan's ToyBox will be taking a look at our top 10 Action Figures for Christmas! So, let's jump in and get after it! In no particular order, we present our top 10 Action Figure Christmas Gifts!
Medicom Mafex #161 TDKR Superman: Mafex continues their incredible trend of recreating some of the most iconic comic book figures out there. Mafex doesn't disappoint at all as this Superman is a great figure and at an average retail price of $105 would make any import collector a happy collector on Christmas morning!
Hasbro Marvel Legends Retro Black Suit Spider-Man
This was a much sought-after figure when it was released this year. Spider-Man collectors everywhere rejoiced at the announcement that a new black suit Spidey was going to be hitting the stores and this didn't disappoint. Built on the retro Spider-Man body with some tweaks here and there, the Retro Black Suit Spider-Man retailed at $24.99 originally but has seen an increase on the secondary market for as little as $30.
Bandai/Tamashii Nations SHFiguarts: No Way Home Iron Spider
Probably the best-looking Iron Spider figure on my shelves, this is one of my favorite Spider-Man figures this year. SHF always does a great job of packing extra goodies with their figures and the ability to put this figure into some great Spider-Man poses is an added bonus for any fan. The SHFiguarts Iron Spider, as an import, retails at $94.99 and can be found online at retailers like BBTS.
Hasbro G.I. Joe Classified Series: Storm Shadow
Any fan of G.I. Joe is going to want this figure in their collection. This is the most accurate Storm Shadow to date, though there will be a new version coming, without the white gloves, which will be even closer to his original appearance in the comic books. That being said, this Storm Shadow looks fantastic on my shelf next to Snake Eyes and for any fan of the character, would be a welcome addition under the tree this season!
Bandai/Tamashii Nations SHFiguarts Deadpool
In spite of not coming with any guns, this is one of the coolest Deadpool figures out there. He's made a number of appearances on the website and was a fun travel companion when we went to Florida. Best of all though, for an import figure, he is reasonably priced at $79.99 and is currently available online at BBTS . You can have the Merc with a Mouth hanging out in your Christmas stocking this year!
Hasbro Marvel Legends Renew Your Vows 2 Pack
Really, though this is a two pack, the primary figure you're going to want is the Spider-Man himself. Spinneret is a nice figure and goes well with the two pack, but this is one of the best Spider-Man figures out there. I'm sure, at some point, these may be released individually but even at the price point of about $56, with the accompanying accessories, this is a nice collection piece.
Hasbro Marvel Legends Retro U.S. Agent
For being such a simple figure, with very little extra, U.S. Agent is a surprisingly fun figure to own. Dressed in his classic outfit, sporting a nasty scowl, Agent is ready to deliver justice in his own manner. The longer I've had this, the more I have come to enjoy it and if your collector is a fan of Marvel characters, you won't go wrong surprising them with U.S. Agent.
Hasbro Marvel Legends 60th Anniversary Amazing Fantasy Spider-Man
Representing the first appearance of the web-head, this is one of the more fun figures in my collection. Having this version is like having a Steve Ditko drawing come to life. For Spider-Man fans or Legends collectors, this would be a welcome Christmas gift! This is one of those oddball pricing issues though, as I've talked with people that found him for $24.99 and I see it listed online at $28.99. Either way this is a great looking figure with some fun posing options and would be a great surprise to open this year!
Hasbro Marvel Legends 20th Anniversary Captain America
From a personal perspective, this is one of my favorites. Hasbro chose to commemorate their initial releases with special editions of Cap, Iron Man, Hulk, and Toad and this Captain America is, in my opinion, the best of the bunch. The costume is highly detailed, the accessories are on point, the only real issue I had was the holes on the shield, but even those aren't too terribly distracting. I originally paid $32.99 for this figure but on the secondary market, he's taken a pretty significant leap and can be found in the $50- $100 range now.
Medicom Mafex #147: Spider-Man, Black Costume
If collectors were thrilled to nab the new Marvel Legends Black Suit, they went out of their minds when Mafex finally released their version. The figure itself is an amazing piece and the blue highlights painted on the costume are subtle but so well done. Packed with lots of accessories and highly posable, Mafex's Spider-Man figures continue to be among my personal favorites and the black suit Spider-Man is just a joy to have! Unfortunately, this is not an inexpensive figure as it is available online at BBTS for about $115. However, if your collector missed it earlier this year, you could certainly snag one now, before they're gone again!
